About the Author
Timothy V. Rasinski is a professor of education in the Department of Teaching, Leadership, and Curriculum Studies. Dr. Rasinski teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy education. His major interests include working with children who find reading difficult, phonics and reading fluency instruction, and teacher development in literacy education. He has published over 100 articles and 10 books on various aspects of reading education. A past editor of THE READING TEACHER, the most widely read journal in reading education in the world, Dr. Rasinski is currently an editor for the JOURNAL OF LITERACY RESEARCH. Rasinski has served as president of the College Reading Association and he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Reading Association.

A Scaffold for Synchronizing Literacy Success

Reading Synchronizing Success is like having a conversation with the author on current best practices in literacy. It scaffolds creating a literacy system for the many professionals involved, teachers, interventionists, and administrators. The carefully chosen examples that introduce each chapter enable the readers to both connect and visualize the theme addressed in that chapter. The organization of the text and its many charts makes Synchronizing Success a wonderful source to return to again and again. Most importantly Synchronizing Success address the growing need of using best practices in a Comprehensive Literacy System.

School Success

Words such as protocols, authentic assessment, study groups and collaboration are commonly shared ideas at Moreland Hills Elementary School. That was not always the case. In her book Synchronizing Success Maren Koepf leads the reader through the school's journey to establishing a learning network with a common language and way of working together. She gives great detail and specific experiences that will support any school traveling the same journey to success. The appendixes is filled with detailed forms and references.

Synchronizing Success provides a thoughtful, respectful approach to instructional change and the learning process used with teachers. Often teachers are told to change their instructional practices, but not provided the time and resources to understand the basis for change. The teacher learning path Moreland Hills School took demonstrates a comprehensive model to help school communities develop a plan for improved teacher learning experiences which directly impact the educational experiences children receive. Simple to use forms and model comprehensive literacy ideas help provide a place to begin.
